The final and the most challenging section of the East-West Metro tunnelling has been completed. The tunnel Boring Machine Urvi did its breakthrough at Bowbazar on 15 May 2021.

It was most certainly not an easy ride, with water caverns, ground subsidence which destroyed the houses above it and the sunken TBM, replaced by the TBM Urvi after 5 months of no tunnelling etc etc.
