Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan announced before 25 in total tunnel boring machines (TBM) will be used for excavating the 36 kilometer long Metro Manila Subway tunnels.

The Tunnel Boring Machines will be manufactured by top Japanese TBM manufacturer JIM Technology Inc (JIMT).
