So far a chain-bridge considered as the main way to connect two shores of Kotor. Environmental experts and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) oppose it.
Although the shortest stretch between two shores is 340 meters, a bridge would be 1 km long, at 65 m height and with 6 lanes.
Other options are also considered. Including a tunnel. Although tunnel is considered in general less bad than bridge, Former Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković informed the Government in March 2017 that a feasibility study proved that the variant of the tunnel across the Chain is "many times less unfavorable from the spatial-urban, technical-economic, traffic-technical, environmental, functional and safety aspects" according to Radio Slobodna Evropa.
