DPP ('Prague Public Transit Company' or ' Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy' in Czech language) is preparing for the tender of the next section of Metro D. They have released on 10 January the following press release:

Press release: DPP has announced preliminary market consultations on the construction of the second section of the D Olbrachtova - Nové Dvory metro station

Prague, January 10, 2022 - Dopravní podnik hl. The City of Prague (DPP) is preparing a public contract for the construction of the second section of metro D Olbrachtova - Nové Dvory. It will be preceded by preliminary market consultations (PTKs) announced by DPP these days. The estimated total value of this construction is approximately 24 billion crowns.

DPP decided to use the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) method for the construction of tunnels in the second section of the Olbrachtova - Nové Dvory metro station. In addition to efficiency and speed, it is the most gentle excavation method compared to other drilling or blasting methods for the environment, especially for the surface. Due to the use of this method, DPP decided to verify its requirements for suppliers through preliminary market consultations (PTK). The goal of PTK is to obtain valuable feedback from suppliers, which DPP will use for the final setting of the tender conditions of the public contract so as to enable the widest possible participation of quality suppliers. Preliminary market consultations last about a month and are open to all potential suppliers.

"We are working on the next step and we are taking all steps to ensure that Praguers have a fourth metro line as soon as possible. Last year, the construction of the first section of metro D got rid of all the imaginary obstructions of opponents of the building. The Minister of Transport finally decided that the Prague Building Authority was not biased in deciding on metro D. The Chairman of the Antimonopoly Office confirmed that DPP and I had proceeded correctly in selecting the contractor for the construction of the first stage of Pankrác - Olbrachtov. There is no longer only a valid building permit. I believe that we will start construction this year, "says Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport and Chairman of the DPP Supervisory Board.

DPP plans to announce the public contract itself during the first half of this year.
