The Spanish Non Governmental Organization 'The Civil Society Together for Granada' (JxG), has started for an underground metro line under the center of the city.

In an article titled 'Political Decisions (Not Technical) In The Granada Metro. We Don't Deserve This', JxG says, they agree with the Association of Civil Engineers to the Informative Study of the Extension of the Granada Metro that the extensions towards the metropolitan area of Granada. JxG says this vision should be integrated into the Metropolitan Transportation Plan that is being drafted.

JxG says, a tunnel under the centre can be carried out cleanly with a tunnel boring machine deep enough to that it does not damage the foundations of the buildings or archaeological remains.

1,5 Months ago it was deemed almost impossible to construct a 1,5km long tunnel under the historic center of Granadafor the metro line extension. The tunnel would have to pass through an area with archeological remains between 2-10 meter depth. One of the other problems is the difficulty of accurately locating the underground channel of the Darro river.
