9 February 2022 – Ghella, in a joint venture with AF Gruppen, has been awarded the E6 Rentvannstunnel Project by the City of Oslo for the construction of a new water distribution network.
The total value of the contract is NOK 8 750 million excl. VAT (approximately 870M€). Ghella shares 40% of the value of the design and build contract.
The project foresees the construction of Oslo’s water distribution between Huseby, Oset and Stubberud.
The new tunnel will be built with several connection points that will connect the existing water mains along the route.
Approximately 11 km of tunnel will be drilled by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and 7 km by traditional method (drill and blast). In addition, the JV shall build clean water basins and a pump station.
The works/contract is a part of the new water supply project that will ensure 100% redundancy for the current potable water supply infrastructure for the city of Oslo.
The work is planned to start in April 2022 and will be completed in November 2027.
