Elon Musk's The Boring Company has announced the new edition of the now famous 'Can you beat the snail?' tunnel boring competition. The competition otherwise known as the 'Not-a-Boring Competition' had been won by the following teams in 2021:
Team Safety: UMD Loop
Fastest Launch Design: The Diggeridoos
Innovation and Design: Swissloop Tunneling
Best Guidance System: TUM Boring
Overall Winner: TUM Boring
The 2021 edition of the competition was the first edition.
In the 2022-2023 Edition, the competitors will be racing to build tunnels of 30 meters which will at least have functional cross-sectional area of at least 0.2 square meters (equivalent to a circle with
a 0.5-meter diameter).
2022-2023 Competition Categories:
At the 2022-2023 Not-a-Boring Competition, teams will compete in four categories, in order of priority:
1. Fastest to complete the tunnel,
2. Innovative design, build, and/or test,
3. Most accurate tunnel, and
4. Tightest turn.
