Snowy Hydro has commissioned the third and final tunnel boring machine (TBM) for Snowy 2.0, Australia’s largest renewable energy project.

TBM Florence is one of a trio of Tunnel Boring Machines excavating more than 27 kilometres of water tunnels as part of Snowy 2.0, the huge pumped-hydro expansion of the Snowy Mountains Scheme.

Snowy 2.0 is a Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme which will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market\ according to SMEC, a company in the Owner’s Team for the project.
