Prague Public Transit Company announced the tender for the construction of the second section of metro D

The City of Prague (DPP) has recently announced a public contract for the construction of the second section of metro D (I.D1b) from the Olbrachtova station to Nové Dvory. The contract includes the construction of a total of three stations - Krč Railway Station, Krč Hospital and Nové Dvory, including inter-station operating, technological and access tunnels, but also the construction of a power supply system for the shortest operational section Pankrác D - Nové Dvory. The estimated value of this public contract is 24.63 billion crowns. DPP expects offers from interested parties at the beginning of September this year.

The operating section of metro D Olbrachtova - Nové Dvory (I.D1b) is approximately 3.3 kilometers long. It starts behind the Olbrachtova station, includes three stations, two of which are excavated - Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč and one excavated - Nové Dvory and three inter-station sections, each consisting of two single-track tunnels. The interesting thing about this section is that the station Nádraží Krč, which will include the transfer of the metro train and P + R, will be one of the few surface stations of the metro D, which will partially lie below the South Junction and on the bridge structure leading and above the Kunratický brook valley. The construction of this section will also include the construction of a tunnel and turning tracks at the Nové Dvory station, technological tunnels such as air conditioning and other equipment necessary for the operation of the Prague metro and, last but not least, the establishment of a possible metro branch to Modřany. In addition, the contractor will have the task of building and installing a complete power supply for the future transport system, ie substations, substations and traction for the shortest operational section of metro D, ie for five stations and inter-station sections from Pankrác to Nové Dvory.

The major part of the second section of metro D will be built using a punching shield, ie the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) method. The excavations will take place from the site of the future Písnice Depot, from where the contracted contractor will build access tunnels approximately three kilometers long and will continue with this method to the Nádraží Krč station. Only less than 800 meters long line section between Olbrachtova and Nádraží Krč stations will be excavated using the NRTM method, which is already used by contractors during the construction of the first section of the D Pankrác - Nové Dvory metro station.

"After the start of the first stage of the construction of metro D at the end of April, we continue to work on the successful completion of the entire line. Despite all the hardships, we manage to move one of the most important investments in Prague and the Czech Republic. The metro is the fastest and most convenient way to travel around the city, and this luxury will soon be acquired by Praguers from another part of Prague. However, Metro D is not just a reaction to the long-term unresolved traffic situation in the southern part of the city. Metro D is also an opportunity for further development, leisure, new housing for Praguers and business opportunities. In addition to quality public transport, the metro also brings new potential and life to the area. At the same time, it is an opportunity for existing infrastructure. The new line will be fully automated, we will buy the most modern automatic sets for it. And on that occasion, we will also modernize line C, "said Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor of Prague. of the City of Prague for Transport and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DPP.

"We are continuing the public contract for monitoring and certification of the construction of the second section of metro D, which we announced in the first half of May this year. We expect the first bids from those interested in the tender for the construction itself at the beginning of September this year and we firmly believe that by the end of this year we will know the winners if there are no unpredictable complications. The construction of the second section of metro D will take a total of six years, and we would like to start it during the second half of next year. This will build on the construction of the first section Pankrác - Olbrachtova, which we started at the end of April this year and which will last the longest of all sections, up to 7.5 years. We plan to complete and commission both sections at the end of 2029. But I firmly believe that it will not stay at these five stations and metro D will run to the Písnice Depot at the end of 2029, "said Petr Witowski, Chairman of the Board and CEO of DPP.

The DPP will evaluate the received offers according to their economic advantage on the basis of the most advantageous ratio of the offer price and quality, in accordance with the Public Procurement Act. The offer price will have a weight of 80% during the evaluation, and the experience of selected members of the supplier's implementation team will have a weight of 20%. The evaluation of bids will take into account the contractor's experience in the construction of larger transport tunnel constructions with excavated tunnel sections.

The public contracts for the construction of the second section of metro D were preceded by preliminary market consultations, which DPP announced in the first half of January this year in the Public Procurement Bulletin and in the Official Journal of the European Union. Their main goal was to verify the setting of the tender conditions of the public contract so as to enable the widest possible range of suppliers who would be objectively able to implement the subject of the public contract to participate in the tender. He actively participated in preliminary market consultations about eight subjects.
