Bosnia and Herzegovina : Eight Applications in the pre-qualification phase for the construction of the Kvanj-Buna Tunnel

Yesterday, the road company of Bosnia and Herzegovina Autocesta FBiH has announced to the press that 8 JV and/or consortia applied to build the Kvanj-Buna tunnel.

Applications are open for pre-qualification for the construction of the Kvanj-Buna Tunnel section

In the operational office of JP Autocesta FBiH in Sarajevo, the public opening of applications for pre-qualification for the construction of the highway on Corridor Vc, Tunnel Kvanj - Buna section was held today.

Eight applications were received for the construction of the Kvanj-Buna Tunnel section, as follows:

  • JV: Limak Insaat Sanayi VE Ticaret A.S. – DL E&C CO.LTD. (Turkey/Korea);
  • JV: Ozkar Insaat Sanayi VE Ticaret A.S. – Dogus Insaat VE Ticaret A.S. (Turkey/Turkey);
  • JV: Azvirt, Stecol, Hering and PowerChina (Azerbaijan/China/BiH/China)
  • JV : China Railway Tunnel Group Co. Ltd. – China Overseas and Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (China/China);
  • JV: China Road and Bridge Corporation – CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd (China/China);
  • JV: Ozaltin – Yapi Merkezi (Turkey/Turkey);
  • JV: Celikler Insaat Taahhut ve Sanayi A.S. – Gulermark Agir Sanayi Insaat VE Tahhut A.S. – YSE YAPI Sanayi VE Ticaret (Turkey/Turkey/Turkey);
  • Cengiz Insaat Sanayi VE Ticaret A.S. (Turkey).

The estimated value of the acquisition is 150 million euros without VAT.

The section Tunnel Kvanj - Buna, with a total length of 5.25 km, starts on an open route before the entrance to the Kvanj tunnel (2,720 m), passes through the Kvanj hill through the tunnel, then crosses the Rotimski potok (320 m) via a bridge and ends in Stanojevići just before the Rotimski potok rest area where it continues to the built section of Buna - Počitelj. Immediately before the completion of this section, the construction of the Rujevica overpass is planned in order to enable smooth communication between Stanojevići and Gubavica.

As part of the construction of this section, the construction of a connecting road for the settlement of Hodbina, 1415 m long, is planned as a temporary connection to the highway until the construction of the Mostar south interchange.

The expected construction period is 24 months.

The construction of the Tunnel Kvanj - Buna section will be financed with funds provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and with grants from the European Union provided within the framework of the Agenda for Connection through the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans (WBIF).

The section Tunnel Kvanj - Buna is extremely important for the completion of the southern part of Corridor Vc, because it connects the already built section Buna - Počitelj to M-17
