Diaphragm breaking marks the connection of more than 30 km of underground excavations in the Valico tunnel and indicate 82.6% of the total progress of the excavations to be achieved.

Diaphragm breaking ceremony has been attended by the managing director of Webuild, Pietro Salini, Transport minister Matteo Salvini, the managing director of the FS Group, Luigi Ferraris and others.

Terzo Valico is 53 km long, 70% of which in tunnels. Both NATM and TBM excavations used. It is part of thm TEN-T 'Reno-Alpi' corridorand will shorten Genoa-Milan section rail transport by 33%.
