We are currently recruiting for a Principal Tunnelling Engineer to join our ambitious and experienced team. We are working on stages as early as feasibility studies up to detailed designs on a wide range of projects. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include long term Framework Agreements with numerous Local Authorities together with Design and Build commissions for many major Contractors. Our office has an established track record of successfully delivering roadway designs for many years, throughout the USA and Australia not to mention Canada or Middle East. You may have the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic Transportation projects, being part of a diverse and multicultural team. This is a key role within the Europe Global Delivery Center (Poland/Spain) and will report to the Head of Ground and Tunnelling Engineering team.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Serves as a tunnelling lead engineer on mid- to large size projects supported by EC.

• Makes day-to-day decisions for a technical team, integrating resources from different EC offices (Poland, Spain, India…)

• Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts and conducts complex value engineering evaluations, determining alternative designs, materials, construction techniques.

• Categorizes packages of work to be done by EC, elaborates project execution plans and in combination with internal clients defines the delivery strategy, including composition of design teams.

• Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Approves and signs off on work.

• Accountable for the results of the team and adherence to agreed upon budget for a specific package of work.

• Delivers effective communication inclusive of internal clients and team members to clarify expectations and requirements.

• Trains, mentors and evaluates less experienced staff (within the Europe GDC or other Delivery Centers).

Minimum Requirements

• Proven track record of working on ground and tunnelling engineering designs and collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams (+12 years) for Transportation and Water Projects.

• Proven experience of working on mechanized urban tunnelling and on the design according with the NATM /SEM principles.

• Experience on the design of Prefabricated Concrete Tunneling Linings, building affection assessment and ground improvement.

• Experience on hard rock TBM tunnelling will be considered favorably.

• Team management experience (+3 years) will be considered favorably.

• Proficiency using various software packages for analysis and design such as Plaxis (2D/3D), FLAC 3D, Midas GTS NX, Rocscience package, etc.

• Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System.

• Experience with international regulations and standards (AASTHO; Eurocodes; British Standards, etc.).

• Experience working in the North America region / Australia will be considered favorably.

• Fluent in English (oral and written).

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University

• US and/or Australia Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably
