    Karavanke Tunnel Portal

Contractor company Cengiz  has already excavated 72% of Karavanke Tunnel 2nd tube. This information comes from Jesenice Municipality:

The largest investment in the municipality of Jesenice is still underway in the area of the local community, ie. Construction of another tube of the Karavanke motorway tunnel. In the Karavanke Plateau area, the works on the portal building continues, and in the tunnel itself the contractor, the Cengiz Insaat, continues with excavation and basic suburb. A 2,494 m long excavation is currently carried out, which is 72 % of the total length. The work of the excavation is currently underway in very demanding conditions of heterogeneous hills with low self -supporting (meljevci, sandstones, slate clay) with limestone and conglomerate blocks. Work is carried out within the framework of the submitted timetable. The state border is expected to reach the end of the year (depending on the resorted geological conditions below). At the same time, in the tunnel, the foundation of the interior lining, the cast vault made of cast concrete and the interior of the tunnel. The M1 motorway bridge has already been built, which will be completely completed together with the construction of the missing part of the highway between the tunnel and the existing toll station.
