Skanska has as a part of a consortium been selected by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) as preferred bidder for the E10/rv. 85 Tjeldsund-Gullesfjordbotn-Langvassbukt road project in northern Norway. For Skanska, the scope of the project includes designing, building, and operating and maintaining the road for 15 years from completion.

The project, that is being procured as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) by NPRA, is part of the transport link between Lofoten, Vesterålen Harstad/ Narvik Airport and the E6. It includes the construction and operation of 82 kilometers of new and upgraded road with seven new tunnels and 22 bridges. In addition to improving road safety, the project will shorten the trip distance by around 30 kilometers and reduce the travel time by around 40 minutes. The E10/rv. 85 project further constitutes a pilot project for NPRA to test measures for greener and more environmentally friendly development.

The total value of the construction contract is estimated by NPRA to about NOK 11.3 billion, about SEK 11.5 billion, and the operating and maintenance contract is estimated to NOK 1.0 billion, about SEK 1.0 billion, for the period. No order booking will be accounted for until the contract is executed, which is expected during the second quarter of 2023.

Preparatory works are expected to start early in the summer of 2023 and the construction phase for the project is expected to last for a total of 5.5 years.
