A proposal to build a €1.4 billion highway underneath Helsinki, which would carry up to 40,000 cars per day, has hit a red light. The Social Democrats on Helsinki City Council have decided they won’t support the initiative, joining the Greens and Left Alliance who previously made a similar decision.
