Mitma approves the layout of the variant of the Pobla de Seguro in the N-260, with an expected investment of almost 53 million euros

The Ministry of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA) has definitely approved the “ROAD N-260, Pyrenean Axis. Variant of the Pobla de Segura, Km 307,000 to 309,700 ”, in the province of Lleida, as announced by the Official State Gazette (BOE). The estimated bidding budget of the work amounts to 52.7 million euros (VAT included).

The main objective of this variant is to significantly improve road safety and relieve traffic on the N-260 road crossing in the urban nucleus of the Pobla de Seguro.

Through this work, N-260 users will experience a considerable increase in comfort, security and speed, avoiding crossing the urban area and its intersections. In turn, the residents of the Pobla de Seguro will enjoy a better quality of life, since the discomfort and hazards associated with daily vehicle traffic will be eliminated. The action is included in the actions that Mitma is promoting for the improvement of the Pyrenean axis.

    Technical characteristics

The project consists in the construction of a variant of the current crossing of the N-260 road in the urban nucleus of La Pobla de Segura, belonging to the so-called Pyrenean axis. The variant, of a length of 1,954 meters, begins in the N-260 roundabout, covering the section that extends from the bridge over the Flamisell River to the ravine of Vallcarga, and culminates in a semi-award that will facilitate the connection with the current N-260.

To ensure a safe and functional infrastructure, the layout will include a 122 -meter viaduct on the Flamisell river, a 915 -meter tunnel located north of the town (with an excavated length of 805 meters plus 110 meters of false tunnel) and a viaduct 128 meters to overcome the ravine of Vallcarga. The tunnel will also have a parallel evacuation gallery about 672 meters long.

Transversal permeability will be guaranteed by a lower and a superior step; The latter will consist of a pedestrian catwalk that will provide access to the Hermitage of Sant Fructuós. In addition, a reorganization of existing accesses to improve mobility in the area is contemplated.
