NSW Government has officially cancelled the ill-fated Northern Beaches Link project. The road tunnel project was the pet project of the ex-Premier Berejiklian. Berejiklian had to resign a few years ago following the commencement of an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) investigation to determine whether a "breach of public trust" had occurred in relation to her ex-lover so-called 'Dodgy' Daryl Maguire.

The Beaches Link tunnel is planned to connect to the Warringah Freeway, cross underneath Middle Harbour and connect with the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation at Balgowlah in northern Sydney.

As soon as Berejiklian was out, with the new premier Dominic Perrottet, there were reports of possible cancellation. Perrottet government's new transport minister Rob Stokes has reportedly concerns about the project costing the taxpayers' as much as 10 billion dollars. Not long after, followed by NSW government placing Beaches Link and Blue Mountains tunnel projects on-hold, to invest in higher priority projects.

By scrapping the project, NSW government plans to save $10 Billion. According to reports, about 150 million already has been spend for planning and land acquisition. 26 Homes had been taken over by the government, forcing the residents to move out...for a road tunnel not to be built. Reports say, government plans to hold on to the properties for future plans...
