The Piet Hein Tunnel was originally designed by UNStudio and opened in 1997.It is a major infrastructure that connects the centre of Amsterdam with the Zeeburgereiland and the A10 ring road; after more than twenty years of intensive use, the tunnel was due for a thorough renovation.
