MyRepublica gives news of tunnel breakthrough at Sunkoshi-Marin Multipurpose Project. Contractor Chinese company China Overseas Engineering Group Co Ltd (COVEC) tunnel boring machine (Robbins TBM) broke through 13.3 kilometre long tunnel. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal pressed the button for TBM to work for final tunnel breakthrough. Chinese ambassador to Nepal also gave a speech for breakthrough of 5.5 metre diameter tunnel.

American ambassadorto Nepal also attended the breakthrough ceremony praising the American technology product Robbins TBM used in the project. Daily progress in boring was 72 meter.

Tunnel shall benefit irrigation of southern plains of Nepal.
