Soon S3 tenders for the tunnel in Świnoujście will be announced reports the respected Polish publication inzynieria.com

Tenders will be announced for the design and construction of two sections of the S3 express road from Świnoujście to Troszyn. This route is necessary to complete the entire road from the Baltic Sea to the Czech border - all other fragments exist or are being implemented. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has already sent announcements for these proceedings for publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The S3 Świnoujście-Troszyn road will be 33 km long. The construction was divided into two sections: Świnoujście-Dargobądz (17 km) and Dargobądz-Troszyn (16 km). Tender offers should be met at the end of January 2020. Proposals will be assessed against three criteria: price (60%), warranty period (30%), shortening the time to complete from 39 months to 36 months (10%). 10 months from the date of signing the contract are provided for the development of construction projects and submission of the application for permission for the implementation of the road investment (ZRID).

The beginning of the S3 Świnoujście-Troszyn route was designed from the roundabout, which will be built at the outlet from the planned tunnel connecting the islands of Uznam and Wolin. The road will end on the existing bypass of Troszyn, Parłówek and Ostromice. As part of the entire investment, a bridge will be built, among others: a bridge on the Wolin beltway, a flyover on the Międzyzdroje beltway, as well as seven road junctions and a double-sided passenger service place between Dargobiedz and Wolin.

As for the aforementioned tunnel in Świnoujście, its underwater part will be hollowed out using the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine). The construction of the take-off shaft should begin at the beginning of 2020. The take-off chamber is planned on the side of the island of Usedom; sapper survey is currently underway in the area, tree felling has also begun.

The tunnel in Świnoujście will consist of three parts. The 475 m long fragment was designed in retaining walls, an opencast technique will be used for the construction of 295 m, and the main part, 1480 m long, will be hollowed out by TBM (100 m machine length; 13.5 m diameter of the shield; the internal diameter of the tunnel will be 12 m, and external - 13 m). Drilling under the Świna Strait should begin in March 2021 and end on Wolin Island after about five months.

Tunnels will also be built along the S3 route itself. In September this year GDDKiA selected the best offers for the design and construction of the Bolków-Lubawka section. This route will include two tunnels, about 2300 m long and about 320 m long.

The entire S3 is a 480.7 km expressway in western Poland from Świnoujście to Lubawka. Is a fragment of the Central European Transport Corridor (CETC - The Central European Transport Corridor).
