Tunnel Boring Machines have started arriving at the Chennai port and being transported from there to Bengaluru.
The Slurry Tunnel Boring Machines will be used for boring the 5.63 kilometre tunnel under the heart of Bengaluru. The TBMs have been manufactured by CRCHI (China Railway Construction Heavy Industry). They will be used by the contractor L&T. The work is commissioned by BMRCL (Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd).
