The rebidding process of the Zojila tunnel is taken longer than expected.
When the contract with with first contractor IRB Infrastructure was cancelled, in a rebidding process in in 2018 M/S IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd was awarded by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
But after exactly one year, when M/S IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd completed around 7-10% of the ground work, NHIDCL ended the contract and started a new bidding process. So far, after 6 months, nothing came out of this process.
When finished Zojila tunnel will be Asia’s longest bi-directional tunnel. For India the tunnel has most importance to lessen the growing influence of Pakistan and Chine in an isolated Ladakh region.

When I read this, I can understand why no company wants to work on Zojila tunnel.
A tunnel project at 3000 meters high began in 2013. It should have finished in 2020. Less than 10% of the work is considered completed. No one wants to do this work in this region, close to unstable India-administrated Kashmir

@Julian, Sir, Zojila Tunnel area is most difficult area for reaching, organizing a workforce for construction. But it will only make progress of project slower. It will not stop it. Soon or later this strategically important tunnel will be part of India's growing list of tunnels. When built Zojila tunnel will be the highest tunnel in the world.
This Zojila tunnel must be strategically pretty important for Ladakh region dominance.
China seems especially irritated by India's infrastructure projects in the region which they perceive as India trying to push borders into "China's land".
This might be one of the regions why many companies, certainly not the western ones are hesitant about getting involved in the Zojila tunnel.
I read this on BBC. It is about Ladakh, China and India:
"..thousands of Chinese troops have forced their way into the Galwan valley in Ladakh, in the disputed Kashmir region"
Tensions in the Himalaya have the potential to escalate as they pursue their strategic goals.
India may build a second tunnel in Ladakh, in addition to Zojila tunnel which is under construction says official.
India is not allowing the border confrontation with China to hinder strategic road projects in forward areas, including the Ladakh sector, an official familiar with the developments said.
