Acciona - Arup consortium chosen as primary contractors for the construction of Brisbane Metro

Out of the three shortlisted group of companies to perform the major works for the Brisbane Metro, Mayor announces that "Brisbane Move' consortium comprising of Acciona and Arup has been selected.

Last year, Brisbane City Council had reduced the number of candidates to 3 consortia:

  • Brisbane Move Consortium (Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Arup Australia Projects Pty Ltd)
  • TransForm BNE consortium (McConnell Dowell Constructors Pty Ltd, John Holland Pty Ltd and GHD Pty Ltd)
  • METRO4BNE consortium, (CPB Contractors Pty Ltd, Seymour Whyte Constructions Pty Ltd, Vinci Construction Grands Projets Australia Pty Ltd and SMEC Australia Pty Ltd)

Brisbane Metro tender has an exeptionaly long run:

  • July 2018 : Begin of formal Expression of Interest (EOI) process.
  • 22 August 2018: En of formal Expression of Interest (EOI) process
  • October 2018: EOI respondents shortlisted to 5 to progress to the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase.
  • December 2018: These respondents were further shortlisted to 3 to progress into Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase in early 2019.
  • 2 June 2020 : 'Brisbane Move' consortium of Acciona & Arup announced as winners.

Brisbane will now iron out final contractual issues with Acciona & Arup and they expect the work two start in 12 months.
