Lately the opposition to Western Harbour Tunnel project had been growing. Though not to a degree to cause the cancellation of the project. At least, this is my opinion. It has been growing to a degree to cause the project delayed. Already a petition with over 10 thousand signatures caused another `consultation` meeting at the end of July.

What is interesting is that, recently North Sydney mayor Jilly Gibson called the project a 'All pain, no gain' project. She is not totally against the project though, if at all. Although she opposes the project due to perceived increase in pollution etc, she is confident that they "can turn it around". She is a politician after all.
