An alternative route for Québec's new tram line whereby the tunnel is shorthened by 500 metres (thus 2.1km instead of 2.6km) can be included in Call for Proposals. TVA Nouvelles says the idea for the new tram line which would connect the upper town to the lower town, came out on last Friday, June the 19th. The alternative plan has emerged as an alternative for budgetary reasons for this $3.3 Billion project. 

Drill & Blast Method ('Conventional Tunneling') is reportedly the preferred tunneling method for the tunnel.
