Initial work starts for Prague - Beroun high speed railway with 24.7-kilometer-long Tachlovickým tunnel
A fast rail line between the Czech cities of Prague and Beroun has been in talk for many years. Finally the railway administration takes an actionby announcing a 160 million crowns worth contract for zoning, environmental preparation and a detailed geotechnical survey.
On the high speed route will be the 24.7 kilometer long tunnel. Twin tubes each with one rail track will be excavated via tunnel boring machines.
Ministry of Transport has approved the construction of the tunnel last year. It is high speed railway tunnel (200km ph) and construction will start i 2028.
Another delay for Prague and Beroun high speed railway. 160 million crowns worth contract for geological exploration has been delayed.
The Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) forbade signing a contract with the winner of the bidding. There had been objections to the bidding process and result. ÚOHS has overrode Railway Administration. One of the bidders had objected to tender documents citing conflict of the tender documentation with the Public Procurement Act. Railway administration rejected it. But now ÚOHS has found that rejection not lawful.
There can still be an appeal. But work is delayed nevertheless.
