Karavanke Tunnel second tube construction is in the news in Slovenia.

Maybe an indication of not much going on nowadays over Slovenia's roads and tunnels, the start of excavation at Karavanke second tube is all over the press here.

Delo is one of the publications, probably the best, that covers the subject saying that currently Cengiz's (contractor company) 42 Turkish workers are working on the excavation. When the volume of works at it peak, there will be 140 workers working.

Start of excavation ceremony was attended by the President of the Management Board of DARS Valentin Hajdinjak, Minister of Infrastructure Jernej Vrtovec and Asim Cengiz, yes, you guessed, from the Management the contractor company.

I am a bit sceptical that both DARS and Cengiz say the completion date (May 2025) and cost (100m euro) still hold, despite the coronavirus delay. Realistic?

Delo also mentions potential of a new water tunnel nearby.
