On 27 August, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced it form a committee to investigate cause of ground subsidence in Gyomun-dong, Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do.

4Km2 area 2 meter deep sinkhole created and at least 3 people died.

Place of sinkhole where ground subsidence happened is between two stations on Byeolnae Line of Subway Line 8 extension where Hyundai E&C is excavating a tunnel via a tunnel boring machine. It is possibility.
