The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent a second request to the India's embassy in China, as well as the Indian government to help bring 6 Chinese engineers to Mumbai. The Times of India says the engineers are required to supervise the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) work at the coastal road tunnelling work in south Mumbai.

The contractor for the coastal road tunnelling is Larsen & Toubro (L&T).  The company had decided to by a large TBM of Chinese manufacturer CRCHI (China Railway Construction Heavy Industry). At the time this looked a very wise decision as it had much better price/performance ratio compared to western TBMs.

But then, came the clashes between the Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh. Consequently L&T decided not to bring the Chinese experts to assemble the TBM. Somehow the TBM has been assembled. Most likely with the remote help of Chinese experts. But now BMC says Chinese experts are required to supervise the TBM boring for the "first 500 meters of boring".
