Spanish company Azvi has been awarded a contract in Norway for 36.9 million euros

The Sevillian construction company will rehabilitate the existing Ulriken railway tunnel (a new one is being built for which Azvi had contributed to work), located in Bergen, for Bane NOR.

The rehabilitation work involves widening of the tunnel section at different points along 7.6 kilometers in length. It is a tunnel excavated in rock formation.

    Azvi released the following information:

Azvi has signed its first contract in Norway with Bane Nor, the state-owned company that manages railway infrastructure, to construct the country’s first ballastless track  between Arna-Fløen, in Bergen, for an amount of 53 million euros (508,429,193 NOK)

The stretch is 9 km long and is located within the Arna-Bergen railway project. The works include track, telecommunications, high and low voltage and catenary; and they will be developed in two phases, with a stop for the construction of the new Arna station, the opening of the new Ulriken tunnel and the rehabilitation of the original tunnel. The first phase will last approximately two years. Then a one-year stop for the rehabilitation of the tunnel and build the southern area of the Arna station will begin. After that, the railway contract will be completed.

For Azvi, it is the first contract awarded in a country in northern Europe and it is a great market opportunity, in addition to being able to share the great experience in the execution of large railway infrastructure projects that Azvi has been treasuring throughout its most one hundred years of history.
