Grand Paris Express Line 16 Lot 3

I've got notified by a friend over a press release of Razel-Bec. Below is the translation to English (link to original is at the bottom).

PRESS RELEASE - A 100% Fayat consortium for lot 3 of line 16 of the Grand Paris Express 24 Feb 2021

The consortium led by RAZEL-BEC, accompanied by SEFI-INTRAFOR and FAYAT METAL, wins the contract for the construction of lot 3 of line 16 of the Grand Paris Express, for an amount of 325 million euros.

Consortium made up 100% by subsidiaries of the FAYAT group, the leading independent French construction group and world leader in road equipment.

Construction of 5.5 km of tunnel, Chelles station and 6 ancillary structures.

RAZEL-BEC (agent), a subsidiary of the FAYAT group, in a consortium with SEFI-INTRAFOR and FAYAT METAL, also subsidiaries of the FAYAT group, has just been awarded by the Société du Grand Paris, as part of the Grand Paris Express project, the construction of lot 3 of the future line 16, which will link 10 stations, from Saint-Denis Pleyel to Noisy-Champs, in 26 minutes.

The contract, for an amount of 325 million euros, including 274 million euros for RAZEL-BEC, concerns the realization of a 5.5 km tunnel, civil engineering at Chelles station, and 6 ancillary works.

Work will begin in June 2021 on the Chelles station for delivery of the site in 2026. The earth pressure tunnel boring machine will begin excavation in March 2022 and will end its run around twenty months later. It will leave from the Noisy-Champs rear station, at the end of line 15, and will go up north to the Bel-Air structure located in the town of Chelles. This new excavation gives the Société du Grand Paris and the company RAZEL-BEC the possibility of reusing a tunnel boring machine currently in operation on line 15 and thus reducing the costs and environmental impact that the manufacture of a tunnel boring machine would generate.

    Employment and integration

This project will mobilize nearly 300 people, the equivalent of 25 full-time jobs will be reserved for social integration. In addition, 20% of the amount of the contract will be operated by small or medium-sized enterprises.

    Line 16

An essential line for the development of the east of the metropolis, line 16 will link Seine-Saint-Denis to the borders of Seine-et-Marne, serving the stations of Chelles and Noisy-Champs. It will benefit nearly 800,000 inhabitants. In correspondence with many transport lines (RER A, RER E, RER B, Transilien lines), it will also provide a direct connection to the Cité Descartes and the Plaine Saint-Denis.

RAZEL-BEC and SEFI-INTRAFOR, major players in the Grand Paris Express

Mobilizing all of its businesses on various Grand Paris Express projects, RAZEL-BEC has just completed the digging of 4.3 km of tunnel on the extension of line 14 to the South and continues to dig the tunnel connecting the stations from Créteil-L'Echat to Bry-Villiers-Champigny on line 15 South. At the end of 2020, it successively won:

    • the market for the viaduct of line 18, with a length of 6.7 km, connecting Massy-Palaiseau to the future CEA Saint-Aubin air station in the south-west of Paris, as a member of the beneficiary group.
    • As well as two station development contracts, as agent, on the extension of line 14 to the South for a total amount of € 164 million. They consist of the development of the station bodies, accesses and corridors of the future stations of Maison-Blanche-Paris XIII, Kremlin-Bicêtre-Hôpital, Chevilly “Trois Communes”, M.I.N. Porte de Thiais and Pont de Rungis. FAYAT METAL will participate in one of these two markets as a co-contractor.

For its part, SEFI-INTRAFOR intervened for the construction of the foundations of several stations on lines 14, 15 and 16 and in particular, the deepest station of the Grand-Paris-Express, Saint-Maur-Créteil. The company is currently mobilized for the foundations of the future Stade de France station.
