Samsung C&T wins an order for subway construction in Singapore worth 500 billion won

Samsung C&T Construction Division (CEO Se-cheol Oh) announced on the 26th that it has won an order for the Cross Island Line CR112 project in Singapore, worth 500 billion won, ordered by the Singapore Land Transport Authority.

The Cross Island Line is Singapore's eighth subway line, connecting East and West Singapore. The total length alone is over 50km, and Samsung C&T has won the CR112 tool. The construction is carried out by Samsung C&T alone, and the construction amount is about KRW 500 billion. Construction commenced in March 2021 and is expected to be completed in December 2029.

CR112 is a construction project that involves connecting a transfer station to an existing station near a residential area in the Hougang area in central Singapore, and constructing a 1.79km-long tunnel. Project management capabilities that can be safely constructed in a narrow site and communication with nearby residents and stakeholders are important projects.

Samsung C&T succeeded in winning this order through its Singapore underground civil engineering experience and excellent business management capabilities. In particular, the underground tunnel of this project applies the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) method for all sections, and Samsung C&T has a number of TBM construction experiences at the underground civil engineering site in Singapore. In addition, it found a competitive construction alternative, suggested it to the client, and won this project by gaining trust.

Samsung C&T's experience in carrying out subway construction near the CR112 site was also recognized. The CR112 project includes the construction of an existing subway station as a transfer station, and the station and underground tunnel were completed in 2002 by Samsung C&T.

Samsung C&T has completed or is carrying out 15 projects ordered by the Singapore Land Transportation Authority across Singapore, and is also successfully carrying out construction similar to CR112 projects such as T307. In particular, the T307 project was recognized for its outstanding project management capabilities by winning the Safety First Prize, the Accident-Free Site Award, and the Health Award at a safety contest hosted by the Singapore Land Transportation Authority last year.
