Interesting article from South China Morning Post. Somewhere in the article it mentions that Chinese scientists have proposed to generate hydroelectric power via a 16km-long tunnel instead of an environmentally damaging super tunnel in the Yarlung Tsangpo valley. This scheme would produce 50GW of electricity – or about twice that of the Three Gorges Dam – and reduce the risk of damage from landslides or other natural disasters.
