The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
In this role, you will help lead the development and production of Prufrock, our next generation tunnel boring machine that will autonomously construct multiple tunnel miles per week. This is a role for a world-class engineer and does not require a background in tunneling.
Responsibilities

- In short, make sure Prufrock is the fastest TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) in history by a factor of 10+ and get it built and in the ground quickly.
- Manage multiple design projects and organize/coordinate to meet design/production milestones.
- Provide peer oversight of design calculations and design reviews.
- Perform system-level analyses to ensure design closes.
- Coordinate design projects with cross functional engineering team members as required.
- Seeks to integrate innovative designs in their application.
- Be conversant with all relevant aspects of their design with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Provide peer mentoring and training to newer graduates and staff.
- Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in relevant engineering field.
- 7+ years of progressive engineering experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
-
- Experience working in multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, control systems, etc.)
- A track record of success in root cause analysis and taking corrective action.
- Strong multitasker with an acute sense of detail and superior ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- An analytical mindset that thrives on formulating strategy and presenting data.
- Highly organized with a strong sense of urgency.
