Malay Mail reports: Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today said that the state government is not considering building a third bridge for Penang to replace the proposed undersea tunnel project.
Why Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had to make this announcement?
Because Penang branch of Gerakan (a political party in Malaysia) chairman Oh Tong Keong had asked Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to clarify latest status of the undersea tunnel project which was rumoured to be replaced with an elevated bridge crossing the Penang Strait. The state government had spent RM305 million on the feasibility study for the tunnel project.
Now it is clear that tunnel is still only way to go.
