INVÍAS opens tender for $ 536.7 billion for electromechanical equipment for the Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri tunnel, in Antioquia.

With this investment, the national government will carry out the acquisition, installation and operation of the project's electromechanical equipment, which will provide users with safe mobility.

The Institute published the preliminary studies and the draft specifications on the Secop platform. Those interested will have a deadline to present their offers until December 6.

The entity invests a total of $ 11.5 billion in the execution of 50 works throughout the country that make up the social and economic reactivation strategy Compromiso por Colombia.

Bogotá, November 16, 2021 (@InviasOficial). The National Highways Institute (INVÍAS) opened the public bidding process to award the contract for the acquisition, installation and operation of the electromechanical equipment for the Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri Tunnel project and its access roads. This complex of works will definitively change the road mobility of Antioquia, connecting Medellín with the coast of the department on the Atlantic Ocean in just over four hours.

The Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco Gómez, stated: “The transport sector continues to comply with the Commitment for Colombia schedule. As part of this great strategy led by President Iván Duque Márquez, we transform the road infrastructure of the regions. Today we give good news to the department of Antioquia: through INVÍAS, we started the tender for electromechanical equipment for the Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri tunnel and its access roads for more than $ 536,700 million, resources that include auditing and what undoubtedly promotes the generation of equity and peace with legality for all Antioqueños ”.

The Institute started the bidding process with the publication of the call notice, the preliminary studies and the draft specifications on the Secop platform. This will be available for interested parties to submit their observations, which will be resolved by the entity.

The general director (e) of INVÍAS, Juan Esteban Romero Toro, explained that “with the publication of the technical, legal and financial documents, from the Institute we offer the inputs so that the interested parties can structure their offers, which they can present until 6 December of the current year. These teams will allow the project to operate efficiently and create security for all communities and users. The national government fulfills its mission of improving Antioquia's mobility, connecting the department with the Atlantic coast and producing social profitability for Antioqueños, with the generation of nearly 5,000 new jobs ”.

The entity invested a total of $ 1.4 billion in the project, which includes the installation of electromechanical equipment and the construction of 13 vehicular bridges, 12.5 km of open-air track, 11 tunnels and 4 false tunnels along 19.4 kilometers. These activities are carried out on two work fronts on the Urabá trunk: the Santa Fe de Antioquia front, in charge of the company Construcciones El Cóndor S. A., and the Giraldo front, in charge of the Vías Colombia 061 Consortium.

The Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri Tunnel project and its access roads are part of the 22 works that make up the Vías para la Legidad y la Reactivación de los Regiones Vision 2030 program, part of the Commitment for Colombia strategy. This ambitious plan has a total investment of $ 11.5 billion for the execution of 50 projects that generate about 105,000 new jobs and benefit more than 23 million Colombians from all regions.

These new investments by the national government are in addition to those made by the Medellín Mayor's Office and the Antioquia Government to carry out the entire project, which runs from the municipality of Santa Fe de Antioquia to Cañasgordas. It is one more sample of teamwork for the benefit of Colombians.

With these types of projects, the Government of President Iván Duque and the transport sector are advancing in the execution of a roadmap that transforms and modernizes the country's highway infrastructure, which results in greater regional development and national competitiveness.
