Khabar Hub reports that locals in Rasuwa have attacked the Korean contractors and injured two people. Locals claim the project does not employ locals or use local products.

The 216 MW Upper Trishuli-1 Hydro-power Project is mostly financed by 9 international banks and financial institutions. With US$453.2 million, it is said to be the largest direct foreign investment in Nepal in hydro-power sector. Investors are International Finance Corporation (IFC), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Export-Import bank of Korea (K-EXIM), Korea Development Bank (KDB), CDC Group PLC (CDC), Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), PROPARCO Development Financial Institution, and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

Project work includes a tunnel of 10 kilometers and a 292 meter high vertical pressure tunnel.

A joint venture of Korean companies Daelim Industrial Co Ltd and Kyeryong Construction Industrial Co Ltd do the main work. Khabar Hub news writes China's Sino Hydro builds the entrance tunnel and cable tunnel.
