This is a publication of ITAtech committee of ITA (International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association).

The purpose of the document is described as:

"This document has been written to assist tunnel designers, contractors and owners in understanding the benefits of and limitations in the use of fibre reinforcement for precast concrete segments for tunnel linings, installed using tunnel boring machines. Guidance is also provided on specifications and testing."

ITAtech describes its aim as "to provide a platform for engineers, manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to draw global experience and expertise together for the benefit of the whole industry, and to find ways of supporting the introduction of new techniques and products by collaborating on the development of design and performance criteria and preparing application of best-practice guidelines".
