The sad story of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Veravali-Powai-Ghatkopar water supply tunnel project continue. The  6.6 km water tunnel construction from Veravali to Ghatkopar to improve the water supply of Mumbai had stopped after the German made tunnel boring machine is stuck in the tunnel, followed by flood which soaked the TBM in mud.

The project is no more with Patel Engineering which was originally awarded the contract at Rs 183 crore in 2012. BMC has recently floated a new tender to find a new contractor to finish the tunnel. The current estimate for the cost is Rs 350 crore.
