Norwegian Public Roads Administration and Nye Veier put stone excavated from tunnel to good use

Statens vegvesen - Nye Veier agreement to use tunnel stone Kristiansand

Good cooperation between the Statens vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) and Nye Veier in Kristiansand

The project E18 / E39 Gartnerløkka-Kolsdalen in Kristiansand will fill in rock in the harbor basin to expand Kristiansand ferry terminal and increase security of area stability. For this work, the project needs approx. 300,000 m3 of stone.

Stone to be used for this is tunnel stone from the Haumyrheit tunnel, stone that the Norwegian Public Roads Administration will blast out in Duekniben and stone delivered from Nye Veier AS.

Good benefit for both parties and the environment.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has today signed a mutually good agreement on the delivery of stone from Nye Veier AS's facility on E39 at Grauthelleren west of Kristiansand to our project E18 / E39 Gartnerløkka - Kolsdalen. This provides a socially good utilization of stone and a good environmentally friendly agreement with short-distance stone. The agreement also cuts additional costs as you do not have to transport the stone from a long distance.

This agreement is the result of good cooperation between Nye Veier and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration in Kristiansand, says Nils Ragnar Tvedt, project manager at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration who signed the contract together with Harald Jonny Solvik, project manager at Nye Veier AS. Starting already in March.

The AF group has the construction contract with Nye Veier, while TT Anlegg has the contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for laying stones in the harbor basin, where Bård Kimestad is the construction manager for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

Work on the delivery of stone and laying in the harbor will now begin in mid-March, and is scheduled to be completed around 1 December this year. The agreement with Nye Veier includes approx. 225,000 m3 of stone, and in addition an option for a further approx. 45,000 m3 of stone and approx. 30,000 m3 crushed stone 0-300 mm.
