Peoples Daily have story of Guo Lu, engineer of State Key Laboratory of Shield and Tunneling Technology of China Railway Tunnel Bureau Group for story of promoting self-reliance of tunnel boring machine technology.

She work with Tunnel Boring Machines for 10 year. She work on laboratory abrasive rock samples. Cylinder stones with steel needles abrade and different shield tools found. Wear patterns on different rocks.

"To make scientific research grounded, get the construction site, and solve the problem on the spot." Guo Lu say.

Tunnelling technology has always lacked a unified national standard. "Why don't we set our own standards?"  she say and release more than 10 standards. One of them "Safety Requirements for Shield Machines for Full-Section Tunneling Machines".
