China’s first tunnel boring machine exported to Italy – a CREG 699 10.03m diameter TBM designed and manufactured by CREG (China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd.) – has broken through.
Excavated tunnel is 4.8km twin-bore Lonato Tunnel.
CREG supplied one 10m EPB TBM for the construction of Lonato Railway Tunnels of the high speed Railway link Milan-Verona. Two twin tunnels will be excavated with an TBM designed to cope with high water pressure and Alluvium with an extremely high contend of huge boulders with high abrasion. The Machine is equipped with y double screw conveyor and with extra provisions to catch big boulders to avoid that they will be conveyed by the tunnel belt with the risk of damaging the rubber belt. CREG assembled the TBM the Workshop Zhengzhou. There the Machine has been tested together with the customer. The total shipping time was around 63 days to Lonato job site in North of Italy close to Lake Garda. CREGs service team planned and executed the assembly and finished before schedule. The TBM will excavate the first tunnel with a length of approx. 4,8 km. After the first drive it will be dismantled and reassembled at the initial portal.
