Prague Metro Line D Route Map

The first 1033 meters of the Line D of Prague Metro has been successfully excavated. This first section I.D1a Pankrác - Olbrachtova is the most complex part of the entire route, which includes two stations, one of which is a transfer, and a total of almost three kilometers of various tunnels. Only for this section is drill and blast method used.

The Pankrác D - Olbrachtova section will be built by the international "Metro I.D Association" by Subterra, HOCHTIEF CZ, STRABAG, HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and Ed. Züblin. DPP expects the completion of not only the first section, but also the entire metro D, and its commissioning at the end of 2029.  THe Drill & Blast is only used for the first part. For other parts Tunnel Boring Machine tunnelling method will be used.

Line D of Prague Metro is the first time a new metro line is being constructed in 43 years in Prague Metro. Last time was in 1978.

DPP ('Prague Public Transit Company' or ' Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy' in Czech language) has released following announcement to the media (original is in Czech language).

The first mileage of the tunnels is done on the construction of the first section of the metro D and the last statue of St. Barbara is erected

    02. 12. 2022 Prague, December 2, 2022 - On the first section of the DP Pankrác - Olbrachtova metro, the first kilometer of tunnels, exactly 1,033 meters, is embossed. Almost half -kilometer was created during a geological survey, another 534 meters were set out by contractors over the past seven months after the start of the construction of metro D. Dumping or stamping work now runs in four places. After the completion of the preparatory work and the relocation of utilities, the excavation of the mining pit for the construction of the future Olbrachtova station has also begun. The construction is approaching the phase carried out in the mining manner, so before the holiday of St. Barbara, Strabag had a statue of this patron saint of all miners and builders in this locality.

The blessing of St. Barbara is the centuries -old mining tradition, which is kept to this day. According to her, the miners lit their protector in the gallery of the candle, which left on her holiday on 4 December all night. So -called. Barbořino light illuminated the darkness for this all year round. The author of 45 centimeters high linden wood statuette is Professor Stefan Brüggerhoff, a woodcarver and at the same time the owner of the Mining Museum in the German Bochum. Petr Šleich, parish vicar from the Roman Catholic parish at the Church of the Virgin Mary of Prague from Prague - Lotka, blessed the patron saint of miners and builders, protector and helper in the construction of Olbrachtov. It is the last, the fourth statuette of St. Barbara on the construction of the first section of the metro D. The first two contractors installed the first two contractors at the start of a geological survey on the construction sites VO-Ol and Pad4, the third oversees the embossing of the access tunnel and subsequently the station itself in PAD1B.

“Meanwhile, we go with the construction of metro D according to the schedule. We hunted thousands of tons of soil, translated more than five kilometers of utilities, and invested the first billion. Now we are starting to dig in the next location - the accession pit to the future Olbrachtova metro station. I believe that the hall we cover the building will protect the inhabitants near the building from dust and noise, ”said Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor of Prague. City for Transport and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DPP.

“We have the first kilometer of tunnels and galleries on the construction of the first section of the DP Pankrác - Olbrachtov. Of the total volume, however, it is only about the first tenth. We are furthest with the intermediate tunnel stamping, which should be reached in the entire length to the future station of Olbracht preliminary at the end of March 2023, if the work continues according to the schedule. So far, the contractors are doing well. I wish colleagues to work on the construction of the future Olbrachtova station according to plans and the work will be successful, ”said Petr Witowski, Chairman of the Board of Directors and DPP CEO.

“I wish all colleagues who work on the construction site to work underground smoothly as they planned. Their technical knowledge and professional experience guarantee for me the safe course of all the works they have in front of them, ”said Pavel Brychcín, a member of the Board of Directors on behalf of Strabag.

What we managed to realize in the first seven months of metro construction in individual locations:

Pad1b (at the ramp from the street Na Strža towards the highway, ie to the 5th May street)

Subterra set out 174 meters of access tunnel, which in the next stage will serve for the stamping of the station Pankrác D itself. In the next phase, the Subterra will continue to the power engineering of the air conditioning, technological tunnel and tunnel for turnover tracks. Pankrác D itself will be the last to be embedded.

Pad2 (at the Arcade OC, at the intersection of Na Strža and Pankrác streets) At this construction site Subterra has relocated utilities (relocation of low -voltage lines, mined relocations of sewerage, water relocations) necessary for the construction pit for the transfer vestibule between lines C and D. Construction pit of transfer between routes C and D.

Pad4 (at the Czech Post building, at the intersection of Na Strža and Budějovická streets) Subterra has made grouting from the gallery built during a geological survey. The construction of three shafts is currently being built for the implementation of compensatory grouting providing commercial-adjustment building Nola on Budějovická Street.

VO-Ol (in Na Na Strže Street U Cemetery Green Liška)

It is the largest building location of the first section of the metro D. The work here takes place in three places and is realized by Subterra and Hochtief CZ. In the direction of Pankrác, the company Subterra is increasing the heel gallery of the future station Pankrác D. It follows the left part of the interstation tunnel, which the contractors built here during the geological survey. At present they will reprimand them well 90 meters of the heel gallery, ie roughly one eight -eight station Pankrác D. In the direction of the future station Olbrachtova company Hochtief CZ set off 175 meters of two -track and 36 meters of left mono -round intermediate tunnel. The stamping is now roughly in the so -called unraveling area, ie the place where the double -track tunnel turns into two separate monorail, and where the tunnel connection of the C and D lines will be created. Olbrachtova. In addition, HOCHTIEF CZ in this locality from a separate shaft stamps the future air conditioning room for the entire intermediate section Pankrác D - Olbrachtova. It is currently stamped from the first 26 meters.

OL 2 (at the intersection of streets Na Strža and Jeremenkova)

At the place of the future station of Olbrachtova, where it builds Strabag, there have been preparatory work since the second half of this April, relocation of more than five kilometers of utilities and the realization of pilots and negatives in the total length of almost one and a half kilometers to ensure the mining pit. Given that the construction of the Olbrachtova station takes place near the residential development, DPP has built a protective hall above this pit, which is to maximize the propagation of noise and dust to the surroundings of the building. This gentle approach has proven itself in the construction of the extension of the line A, specifically at the current Bořislavka station. In the noise barrier there is a portal crane, which is used to transport the extracted material to the surface, and also for the transport of all materials designed to install into the structures of the future station. In total, it should move more than 300,000 tons of material.

Current metro construction D in numbers:

Total length of stamped tunnels and galleries since the opening of construction: 534 meters Total length of stamped tunnels during geological survey: 499 meters A total of Rubanina since the opening of construction: 37 500 m3 Total volume of concrete used since the start of construction: 10 800 m3 Total amount of steel reinforcement used: 1,750 tons The total amount of steel anchors used: 54,400 meters Total volume of grouting used: 319 tons Total length of boreholes for grouting: 17 700 meters
