    Brenner Base Tunnel TBM Lilia

On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, Implenia, together with webuild and csc as partners of the consortium H41 Sillschlucht-Pfons of the Brenner Base Tunnel and the client BBT SE, was able to formally accept the first of the two tunnel boring machines at the manufacturer Herrenknecht AG in Schwanau (DE).

The tunnel boring machine, named "Lilia", in the design of a single shield hard rock TVM with segment lining, has impressive key data: it has a boring head diameter of 10.37 meters, a total length of around 160 meters and a total weight of 1,900 tons - including the trailing structure.

Now, after successful factory acceptance, "Lilia" is being expertly dismantled into its individual parts for the first time and transported to the assembly cavern in the Ahrental, south of Innsbruck. In the new year, towards the end of January, assembly will begin on site. Then "Lilia" will be ready for takeoff - and in spring 2023 will start its approximately 8.1-kilometer drive in the main tunnel east toward the south.
