Norway Statens vegvesen - E39 contract E04 signing with Skanska Norge

When I posted the news about the second (E03) contract signing of Rogfast between Statens vegvesen and Implenia Norway, I realized I had not posted the first contract signing which is even bigger. Here it is.

On 12.12.22 at 12:12, the first major Rogfast contract was signed by Statens vegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration) director Ingrid Dahl Hovland and CEO Ståle Rød in Skanska. The contract is the first of three large ones to build the 26.7 kilometer long underwater tunnel between Randaberg in the south to Bokn in the north.

With a value of almost NOK five billion, the contract is the largest road development contract in Norway of all time, and is also one of the largest land-based contracts entered into in Rogaland. Together with the other Rogfast contracts, the ripple effects will be large for many types of labour.

The contract is linked to the construction of the northern part of the 26.7 kilometer long underwater tunnel between Randaberg in the south and Bokn in the north. Skanska will build a two-lane tunnel from Bokn in the north and halfway towards Kvitsøy, a total of 18.5 kilometres. In addition, two kilometers of road will be built a day. - I would like to congratulate the entire region on the day. It is good to get started on building the tunnel, which will ensure good mobility for large parts of Western Norway. For industry and working life, saving 40 minutes of travel time between Stavanger and Bergen will mean a lot, says road director Ingrid Dahl Hovland.

(Photo: Øyvind Ellingsen/Statens vegvesen) Executive director Ståle Rød of Skanska believed that the project would mean a lot for the region, and for Ferjefri E39, as the road director.

    - We are really looking forward to being able to help realize Rogfast together with our good customer the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The project is also in the middle of the core area of our specialist company Vassbakk & Stol and the fact that we at Skanska can pool our common resources and carry out such a large and complicated facility in an area where so many of our employees live and work on a daily basis gives the project an extra dimension , says Ståle Rød, CEO of Skanska Norge.

When production is at its peak in 2026 and 2027, approximately 150 Skanska employees will be associated with the project. Up to half of the staff will have a local connection.
