U2 Subway tunnel of Berlin will be operational again in August. The tunnel lies under the Alexanderplatz in Mitte. It is a very busy metro tunnel and it sagged when there was an excavation for another building closeby.

The tunnel lies to the construction site by French real estate company Covivio. To build a high rise building, Covivio had dug a 17 meter deep, 60 meter long tunnel just parallel to the tunnel. The distance between the excavated trench and the tunnel caries between 0,8-2,5 meters. So only two and half meters away at most and as close to 80 centimeters at another place. The 1 meter wide excavation wall has tilted inwards for 5,2 centimeters and at another point gave away moving the 100 year old U2 tunnel.

The head of the Germany for the French company Covivio said that "99.98 percent" that the repairs will work and all two tracks of the tunnel will be operational in this August.
