The world's largest cross-section rectangular pipe jacking machine "CREC No.1179" rolled off the production line at the National TBM Industrialization Center of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG) in Zhengzhou, Henan Province in China.

The 11.295-meter wide and 13.55-meter high machine, designed and manufactured by CREG, a subsidiary of CREC, will be used in the construction of the Shasan station of the Shenzhen Metro Line 12. This marks a breakthrough in the production of rectangle pipe jacking machines in China and holds great importance to technological innovation in metro station construction.

CREC 1179, the world's most significant cross-section combined rectangular shield pipe jacking machine jointly developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group and other units under China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, rolled off the production line at China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Zhengzhou company National TBM Industrialization Center, which is another breakthrough in rectangular pipe jacking technology in China and further consolidated China's internationally leading position in this field.

"CREC 1179" inherits China Railway Engineering Equipment Group's leading technology in the rectangular pipe jacking machine field. The equipment is 11.295 meters wide and 13.55 meters high. It is a combined rectangular pipe jacking machine tailored for the pilot project of Shasan Station of Shenzhen Metro Line 12. Aiming at the problems of the high-risk coefficient of traditional underground excavation and low space utilization rate of circular shield, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group has realized the functions of shallow covering soil, large section, and zero clearance excavation by adopting micro-step excavation technology, attitude measurement, and control technology, which effectively improves the safety and reliability of the equipment.

Chen Xiangsheng, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the off-line ceremony that the off-line pipe jacking machine would be applied to underground engineering construction in busy urban areas where stratum deformation is difficult to predict, which is a breakthrough in the technological innovation of pipe jacking machine and a significant leap forward in the application of new underground excavation technology in metro stations and has excellent prospects for promotion.
