Świna Subsea Tunnel in Świnoujście in Poland gets go-ahead
Tunnel between islands of Uznam and Wolin in Świnoujście gets go-ahead by authorities. This is reported by Polish engineering publication inżynieria.
The underwater tunnel will connect the Uznam and Wolin islands (currently only traveled by ferry).

The general contractor for this tunnel is the consortium of PORR, Gülermak and Energopol Szczecin. The contract, worth PLN 793 million, was signed in September 2018. The construction of the tunnel was supported by the European Union with PLN 775.6 million. The investor is the City of Świnoujście, and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) acts as a substitute investor. The works are done in 'design and build' method.
This tunnel interesting. Because entire crossing will consist of three parts. Each of these parts will be built using a different method. The one with a length of 475 m will be built in retaining walls, an open-pit technique will be used for the construction of 295 m, and the main part, 1.48 km long, will be bored by TBM. It will be a machine with a diameter of 13.5 m. Drilling to start in March 2021, and TBM will reach the final shaft on the island of Wolin in August of the same year.

Świna Tunnel in Świnoujście official website writes that works continue with prefabrication plant. I assume they mean segment workshop.
Due to the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic, the organization of work in the office and technical staff has changed slightly. All conferences take place in the form of video, and employees contact each other by phone, avoiding direct contacts.Formwork, reinforcement and concreting of footings and foundation walls for a crane - this is one of the main tasks carried out in recent days in the construction of the Prefabrication Plant. This means that project is entering the next, more and more visible implementation phase.

Work is not stopped. Preparatory work continues. However, changes in organization introduced: office and technical staff are in contact only via electronic devices. Chief Sanitary Inspector and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) special procedures also introduced.Currently the contractors work on the start chamber for the TBM on the island of Usedom and also on the segment factory.
Inzynieria writes three methods will be used in construction of the tunnel connecting the islands of Usedom and Wolin. The 475 m long part was designed in retaining walls, an opencast technique will be used for 295 m, and the main part, 1480 m long, will be boredby TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine). Boring under the Świna Strait is to start in March 2021 and last for 5 months.

Polish publication inzynieria gives a good picture of progress (literally with many photos in the link below) in the Świna Subsea Tunnel in Świnoujście.
inzynieria reports that on Uznam work continued on segments 8 and 9 of the opencast tunnel and Wolin side infrastructural work like electricity lines, water and sewage works and TBM chamber works continue.
