Workers at Melbourne’s West Gate Tunnel are earning up to $200,000 a year, the Master Builders Association of Victoria has claimed.
According to the industry group, young, “entry-level” positions working on the project are raking in $110,000 per year — in exchange for a 36-hour week.

Well done the construction bosses. They have had their P.R. agencies write down such "news" and get them published in press. It is advertising disguised as a "news" article. And the print and online press dutifully publish them as a honey pot to attract workers. I think this flavor of publishing is some sort of prostitution.
Then in one go, they ruthlessly fire the same workers that they attracted with such tricks. People have relocated their families, their houses to make a living and only to be fired.
Over this contaminated soil at West Gate tunnel construction between the state government and the contractors John Holland and CPB Contractors, the fired workers pay the price. They left their towns, maybe countries to come to Melbourne to do their tunneling work in good faith and either or both because of greedy government and greedy contractors, they are now without jobs and likely with accumulated debts as a result of moving and setting up a new life.
I suspect the contractors (John Holland and CPB Contractors) maybe the guilty part because it was already a well known fact that "The development consortium responsible for building Melbourne’s West Gate Tunnel has taken inadequate measures to protect workers and the public from toxic contaminants, including asbestos and perfluoralkyl substances (PFAs), according to the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU)".
And now the same contractors which got those P.R. edited "news" articles have immediately dumped the workers like disposable cups. Shame on them.
