The world's longest highway tunnel the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel opened to traffic on December 30,  It is part of Xinjiang Urumqi-Yuli Expressway in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Construction started in April 2020 and finished in December 2024.

Tunneling method: Middle guide tunnel with hard-rock TBM between two main tunnels and drill and blast for main tunnels.
